About

Dr David Spokes graduated from the University of Leeds with Honours degrees in Pharmacology and Medicine. After gaining experience in a wide range of medical specialties in Yorkshire, London, and Australia, he specialised in ophthalmology.

His ophthalmology training was undertaken in Worcestershire and Yorkshire, during which he completed the training programme of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Dr Spokes gained specialist recognition in 2011 before moving to Perth, Australia, to undertake a year-long fellowship in anterior segment surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital under Professor Graham Barrett. Upon returning to the UK, he completed a further year of fellowship in cornea and external eye disorders at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

Dr Spokes took up his consultant post in 2014 at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and has a varied ophthalmic practice, caring for patients with cataracts, corneal and ocular surface problems, medical retina conditions, and glaucoma. He is currently the College Tutor for ophthalmology at NNUH and is heavily involved in teaching and training the ophthalmologists of the future.
