James Young

Consultant Ophthalmologist and Clinical Partner

About

Mr Young graduated from Manchester Medical School in 2005. He trained in internal medicine, becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2014, before joining ophthalmic specialty training.

After seven years of general ophthalmology training, he undertook extensive subspecialty training in oculoplastic surgery and is now developing his subspecialty interest in oculoplastics, lacrimal and orbital surgery. This training not only allows him to manage patients with general ophthalmology diseases and cataracts but also disorders of the eyelids, eyebrows, tear drainage system and the orbit.

Mr Young delivers training at Newmedica’s CPD events for local optometrists, providing education on specific diseases and their management, and how this translates into educating patients.

He is passionate about making his patients feel comfortable, spending time with them before and after surgery to ensure their needs are met and they have a thorough understanding of the procedure.
