I specialise in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery and achieved a distinction in medicine from Imperial College London and completed a post graduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery at Ulster University. I completed my ophthalmic residency at Moorfields Eye Hospital London which included a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery and glaucoma at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital. I’m now a substantive consultant and lead on refractive cataract and laser surgery at the Royal Liverpool Hospital and at Newmedica, and an honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Liverpool.
Patient care is why I do this job because it’s so vital to this role. Before surgery I listen and share advice tailored to the patient’s situation. During the surgery I’m a reassuring presence and lead a motivated team around the patient.
After surgery, I like to make sure that not only surgical outcomes are reached, but to also make sure that the patient’s quality of life has improved as expected.
In my spare time, I enjoy supporting Liverpool FC, reading, and spending time outdoors.
