Miss Fariha Shafi is a full-time Consultant Oculoplastic and Ophthalmic Surgeon at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where she has been appointed since August 2016. She is the lead clinician for the Oculoplastic service in the region. Miss Shafi specialises in eyelid, lacrimal (tear drainage), and orbital disease, and also has an interest in high-volume cataract surgery.
She studied Medicine at Cambridge University, graduating with degrees in Physiology (First class) and Medicine. Miss Shafi undertook specialist Ophthalmic training in the West Midlands Deanery, gaining a broad range of general ophthalmology experience, before completing subspecialist training in Oculoplastic surgery. She later pursued a prestigious Oculoplastic and Orbital fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. In addition to her clinical practice, she has published numerous research papers, presented her work at national and international conferences, and has received awards. Miss Shafi is also involved in ophthalmology training in East & North Hertfordshire, which she enjoys. She serves as a faculty member and lecturer on courses aimed at teaching cataract and oculoplastic surgical techniques.
