About

Mr. Michael Toma graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1983. He trained on the North London Deanery rotation for ophthalmology and completed a fellowship in corneal and external eye disease at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

His special interests include small incision phacoemulsification refractive cataract surgery, cornea, lid and ocular surface disease, medical retina disease, and lacrimal disorders. Mr. Toma has extensive experience in cataract surgery, having performed over 15,000 procedures to date, as well as the treatment of lid diseases and watery eyes.

He also possesses expertise in the management of retinal diseases, having established and now managing the intravitreal therapy service at his NHS base. Retinal disease management involves full evaluation using both modern and established diagnostic techniques, including ocular coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography (FFA), and indocyanine green angiography (ICG). Mr. Toma offers treatments with the full range of intravitreal injections, including Lucentis, Eylea, Faricimab, Ozurdex, and Iluvien.
