About

Mr Nigel Kirkpatrick was raised in a medical family in Northern Ireland and attended Campbell College in Belfast. He studied medicine at Bristol University, where he developed a strong interest in surgery. He credits his close friend and colleague, Masoud Teimory, for encouraging him to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

Mr Kirkpatrick completed his junior posts at Bristol University, St Thomas’ Hospital, and Bristol Eye Hospital. He then undertook five years as a registrar in Aberdeen, working with Professor John Forrester. In 1995, he completed a fellowship at the Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia, training under Dr Ian McAllister and further refining his skills in ophthalmology.

Since 1997, Mr Kirkpatrick has been a consultant in Gloucestershire, steadily building his expertise in cataract and retinal surgery. In recent years, he has been instrumental in developing efficient and award-winning NHS services with Newmedica, ensuring high-quality care for his patients.
