About

Mr Safdar Alam is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with extensive experience and a subspecialty focus on Medical Retina, Medical Glaucoma, and Neuro-ophthalmology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Latvian Medical Academy in 1999, followed by a postgraduate degree in General Ophthalmology in 2005. His career began in the NHS at the Birch Hill Hospital Ophthalmology Department, later moving to North Devon District Hospital as a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology.

In 2014, Mr Alam completed a prestigious Medical Retina Fellowship at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital, enhancing his expertise in retinal conditions. He subsequently served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the Anglia Community Eye Service before joining the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in 2020, where he continues to provide specialised care in his areas of interest.

Mr Alam is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is also a member of EURETINA and an affiliate member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Known for his dedication to patient care and excellence in his field, Mr Alam combines his clinical expertise with a compassionate approach, ensuring his patients receive the highest standard of treatment tailored to their specific needs.
