About

Mr Sung is a Consultant Eye Surgeon with special interests in complex glaucoma and cataract management. He is a consultant at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre since 2004, one of the biggest eye hospitals in UK. He is a regional specialist in paediatric glaucoma. He is an international expert in glaucoma tube-shunt surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and treatment for angle closure glaucoma.

He graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK in 1993. He completed the specialist training programme at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. He undertook prestigious glaucoma fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London before his consultant post in Birmingham. He was awarded an MSc degree in Medical Leadership from the University of Warwick in 2013.

Mr Sung has keen research interests in glaucoma surgery, he has published over 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is a co-founder of UK Paediatric Glaucoma Society. He has been invited to speak at over 15 international scientific meetings. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and holder of Bronze National Clinical Excellent Award.
